At the tender age of four, he accompanied his seven year old sister to a children's painting exhibition…. only to be handed a blank sheet by the organizer (an artist herself) and some color pencil by a participants, just to keep him busy…most innocently, he copied the canvas which the organizer had painted for the opening of the show…and when the prizes were announced, he won the second prize!...Yes, that was the day that four year old child, now called Rajat kaanthi Dharr, discovered his first love, ART. And like every mother, Rajat's mother recognized her son's true love and became the motivating force in honing Rajat's talent. Born on 6th of May 1971 in New Delhi and brought up in a simple Bengali family, with his father been a reputed lawyer, Rajat's ever shining romance with art never saw any flickers… all through his schooling his graduation in Medicine and his professional stint in the medical field, Rajat continued fulfilling his deep passion by painting on just anything he found worth exploring….Completely oblivious to the fact that he was steadily creating his destiny with his own hands…And then the inevitable happened…As he came to New Delhi to practice Medicine, Rajat streamed into the vast circle of art… Finally recognizing the goal he wanted to realize…This amazingly beautiful path towards his goal brought him to Mumbai. With the intention of reaching someone who could promote him, who was not only the best in his own field but who could also understand Rajat's Art with the same intensity as Rajat did… as if planned by fate, the first door Rajat knocked upon was the perfect one too…he met Ashish Balram Nagpal, the man who gave him a platform for his skills, went to his creativity and a stage to his talent…and more so, a blessing to his love life with Art. Rajat's figurative style in his work reflects a deep enchantment by the human figure… blended with a serenity and divinity touching eternal spiritualism. The god's depicted in his paintings are strongly connected with human form, with the intricate details of their features and subtle nuances of their emotions only a reflection of Rajat's sensitivity and dexterity. In his Krishna series, Rajat captured the youthful spirit of Krishna.
This series hold's a special place in Rajat's heart as he feels the presence of Krishna in anything and everything…and most of all in himself.
